This is a good book! It’s pretty dang dark and quite bloody but as the title and all of the other warnings and such have said, it’s a zombie apocalypse book! If this is a surprise, you’ve not been paying attention. The characters are quite well done and interesting and human/flawed just like normal. The main character is quite a horndog. Again, if you’re shocked, you haven’t been paying attention. The front cover says most of what you needed to know on this already.Action sequences are fast, riveting and of course bloody as heck. Sean did a great job on other parts as well in regards to “helping out other people” made his 2 year stash go from 2 years to 2 months to maybe 1 by the end. Logistics are an art and a science, it’s great to see more than a little lip service told to both throughout both books in the series so far.
The book happens over little less than a week, and while another reviewer had major issues with that, it does make a lot of sense to me in many ways. The survivors of something like this would try to come together dang quickly. There’s no choice on that, either you work together or you end up eaten by zombies. No joke, literally eaten.
Without doing a spoiler, there is a very good reason that most of major local/municipal/state government systems break down really fast. Yeah it’s a little contrived but it’s not a huge stretch of imagination to get to that point. In some ways it resembles John Ringos “Black Tide” series but with more sex. Ahem quite a bit more, and it’s pretty well written too! Not porn but it’s definitely adult content for sure. Then again, this book was never targeted at 12 year olds. Duh. The horror parts were quite a bit more “eeeeww/icky” and tougher to get through for me than a short interlude of people being people/making people.
Burned through this one pretty dang fast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Same with Book 2! I’ll review that one separately.
You’ll probably be able to tell at moments that it is still early days for this author, there are some issues at times with dialogue or structure, but not really all that distracting and I do not remember any grammatical errors. Great deal better than some of the indie works I’ve come across. Meh, gotta start somewhere as an author and this was a GREAT start! Thoroughly enjoyed Seans books so far and I want book 3 asap.

Blood Brains and Bullets eBook Sean Liebling Monique Happy Reviews
I hate to mince words, so I'll say this outright; this is the dumbest book I've read in a long time. Sounds overly harsh, but I'll explain.
The writing style, especially the first person tense, is nothing but a jumbled collection of sentence fragments. These are commonly used as a stylistic device but in this book it's so overused it almost makes the story unreadable. The attempt at first-person funny is like Mark Tufo, but not nearly as well done. There were some VERY minor typos (so minor I'm not sure why there are so many reviews bashing the editing, it was really quite clean with less than a handful of exceptions.)
Now for the guts of it; the story itself is simply absurd. At first the protagonist seemed to be a incoherent collection of juvenile fantasies from a teenage shut-in, but the more I read the more I suspect the character is based more on the author, or at least his self-image. Take that as you will, I don't necessarily mean it as an insult. The sexual encounters, while graphic as warned, were simply laughable in their implausibility. I'm not sure if that's what he was going for, but when I'm laughing at the book and not with the author it seems to be a swing and a miss.
The action was good, but the zombies were obligatory and took a backseat (like, third-row backseat) to the often-bizarre, sometimes disturbing womanizing moments. I'm giving it two stars because he has a good story buried in here... he just needs to focus on telling that story and stop getting sidetracked with the protagonist's "manhood" as that made up at least half of this book and lent nothing to the story itself.
In ‘Blood, Brains, and Bullets’ the author Sean Liebling gives us an unbelievable yet extremely entertaining tale of what could happen in the eventual zombie apocalypse. Throughout the story we’ll be following Jay, an ex-marine turned prepper and chauvinistic pig that is apparently also God’s gift to women. Yes while all zombies include violence this one is going to need an extra warning label from it’s sexual charged atmosphere. We’ll get to that last part in a minute though over and over again. I’m actually kind of surprised it wasn’t named ‘Blood, Brains, and Boobs’! The story begins with Jay having an average day around town when things start going wrong.
The zombie apocalypse starts to occur and Jay is actually one of the few people prepared for the world to end. He’s got plans for keeping his family and friends safe and these plans have long term implications. His first step is to of course secure his children (he has 3). He doesn’t want to live alone though and isn’t the type of person to ignore others so goes on a mission to save neighbors and friends. Right after that though is to save a couple highly attractive women he knows about.
Speaking of attractive women there are four female leads though we’ll only focus on the three who survive Cara – the hot little Mexican firecracker, Corey Rider – the ex-lesbian tech specialist who hides her looks turned submissive lover, and Jean – the neighbor’s daughter. Yes, it’s the end of the world so sharing is caring and he get’s shared between the lot of them quite often. As he slowly saves more and more people it starts turning into his own little Utopia. His own grounds are not enough to sustain them all so they start to spread throughout the town. Securing houses, killing off undead, and generally making things a better world. All good things must come to an end though and we have a few big problems on the horizon.
You know, problems aside from being surrounded by swarms of the undead.
There’s a slightly insane religious group involved in the mix, a group of survivors who want Jay’s resources as their own, and the people who are actually behind the outbreak which have taken over what is left of the military and the world. Give the military some credit though as pockets of them are resisting the people who have brought the world to it’s knees and end up joining Jay’s group (again with him in charge) in order to save the world.
The book leaves off with a lot of questions and it would be remiss to leave out that there are some editing and grammatical issues. Even with those it’s such an easy and fun read you’ll be able to skip past them pretty quickly. What you won’t be skipping past is the multitude of sex scenes with Jay and his women as they seem to crop up every 5 pages. Jay is clearly a better man than I as that much sex would wear a man down alone let alone fighting zombies, running that large of a group of people, taking care of your kids, oh and trying to eat and sleep as well.
It’s a fun read that you won’t be disappointed in and I highly suggest picking it up!
